Our Practice Nurses, Julia, Alison, Reena, Vanessa, Louise, Sarah T and Sarah-Louise, can be seen by appointment and are available to give advice over the telephone.  They are available to consult for asthma, COPD, diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke/TIA, hypertension, cervical screening, sexual health, contraceptive services, travel advice and immunisations, health promotion advice, smoking cessation, weight management, well man checks, well woman checks, childhood immunisations, HRT advice, minor injuries, wounds and leg ulcers.

Nurse Julia has Diplomas in Respiratory conditions and specialises in Respiratory diseases. She also has a degree in Health studies and sees patients with minor illness and injury and is an Independent Nurse Prescriber.

Nurse Reena has a Diploma in Family Planning.

Nurse Louise has been a Nurse Practitioner since 2006, has spent most of her working career in General Practice and The Community. She has also worked as a specialist Palliative Care Nurse for Rowcroft for three years.

Nurse Alison specialises in Diabetes management. 

Nurse Vanessa has a Diploma in CHD, Asthma and COPD. She also has a clinic at the hostel for the homeless and is our Specialist Visiting Nurse.

Nurse Sarah has a BSc (Hons) in Nursing (Adult), an Integrated Community and Primary Care Practice Degree as well as COPD and asthma diplomas.

Nurse Sarah-Louise graduated from Plymouth University with a BSC(Hons) in Nursing (Adult) and has recently completed her degree and masters in Intergrated Community and Primary Care with an Orthopaedic and Community background. She has a special interest in travel injections and complex wound care. She also assists with Specialist Nursing Visits, homeless clinics and is part of the Research Team.

Suzanne and Debbie are experienced Phelbotomists. 

All nursing staff are “Smoking Cessation Advisors”.  Our Registered Nurses have all attended accredited “Smear Courses” and attend regular updates.

Our Healthcare Assistants, Di and Jo, can be seen by appointment for phlebotomy (blood tests) daily.  They are also available for smoking cessation advice, warfarin monitoring, blood pressure, coronary heart disease, new patient, well man and well woman checks, ECGs, medicals, removal of sutures and dressings.  In addition to this they assist with minor operations.

Sexual Health Services:

Dr E Allsop, Nurse Julia Avery and Nurse Reena Thompson have all undertaken further training in this area, and are able to provide a full confidential sexual health screening service.
